Steven Brem, MD |
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) features an interview with Steven Brem, MD in its June issue of
The ASCO POST.
Dr. Brem, Co-Director of the Penn Brain Tumor Center and Professor of Neurosurgery, talks about the current state of brain cancer research and the future of brain tumor care.
Dr. Brem points out the cutting-edge research from colleagues Donald M. O’Rourke, MD and Carl H. June, MD and how the entire team at Penn Medicine is working tirelessly to find more effective brain tumor therapies through the Neuro-Oncology Translation Center of Excellence at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Brem, who has preformed over 3,500 brain tumor surgeries, believes that new innovations in research and technology will greatly help patients live longer than ever before.
“We will see more progress [in managing brain tumors] over the next 10 years than we’ve seen over the past 30 or 40 years because we have all the new tools based on genomics and neuroimaging,” Dr. Brem said.
