Research Coordinator position Longitudinal Study of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Bethesda, MDStart date is immediatelyCompetitive Salary and Benefits Package Description: We seek a Research Coordinator to work full-time on a longitudinal clinical research project. This work is conducted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA. The research project, directed by Dr. Connie Duncan, involves assessment of brain structure and function in injured Service Members (with mild traumatic brain injury [TBI] or other injuries but no TBI). Subjects are followed over time to evaluate clinical outcome, with an emphasis on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as post-concussion symptoms, headache, emotional distress, and quality of life. Assessments include event-related brain potentials, neuroimaging, and neurocognitive and neurological tasks. Clinical interviews and self-report measures are also administered. Responsibilities:
Subject recruitment and consent (establishing and maintaining contacts with clinical services, giving in-service presentations, developing and implementing plans to meet project goals, tracking patient flow, and recruiting and consent interviews)
- Tracking and managing the flow of subject scheduling and testing, scheduling as needed, and coordinating schedules with clinicians - Subject testing, including clinical interviews, electrophysiological assessments, neurological and neurocognitive evaluations - Maintaining patient records and databases, including data entry and data quality assurance - Supervision of staff - Administrative procedures, e.g., budgeting, purchasing, hiring - Preparing amendments, submissions, and continuing reviews for IRBs - Tracking and reporting on recruitment, study progress, and patient events to funding bodies of main clinical trial and affiliated sub-studies - Maintaining contact with staff of other TBI studies and clinical providers Requirements:-Excellent academic record and research experience
-English Fluency
-Master's or Doctoral degree (or equivalent experience)
-Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
-U.S. Citizenship
-Previous experience with subject recruiting, institutional review boards, funding agencies, and regulatory procedures, EEG/ERP recording, Microsoft Office, and Statistical packages (e.g., SPSS) is highly desirable
-Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills which are required to work successfully with Co-Investigators, Multi-Disciplinary TBI and PTSD evaluation and treatment teams, research assistants, and research subjects.
-Some weekend work and flexible scheduling may be needed
