Description:
The Director of the ECI Lab, Dr. Geetha Ramani, is seeking bright and motivated students to assist in www.education.umd.edu/HDQM/labs/Ramani/
the lab starting immediately this summer and preferably continuing through the fall. Research in the ECI Lab focuses on understanding how young children's social interactions with peers and adults influences cognitive development. The lab specifically studies how play and informal learning activities promote children’s thinking in mathematics and problem solving. For more information about the lab, please visit the website:
Responsibilities:
-Conduct interviews with children
-Data entry
-Recruitment of project participants
-Transcribing interactions between adults and children
-Behavioral coding of children playing
-Behavioral coding of children playing
Qualifications:
-Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
-Preference will be given to students who make a two semester commitment to working in the lab
