PSYC 489O Advanced Special Topics in Psychology: Historical Viewpoints and Current Theories in Psychology
A survey of the origins of modern psychology in the philosophy and the sciences of the ancient world, the Renaissance, and the Industrial Revolution as well as in the great advances in biology, medicine, statistics, and other sciences in the 19th and 20th centuries; the roles of World Wars I and II in the development of psychology both as a science and as a profession; a survey of the mostly forgotten contributions of women to the development of psychological science and practice during this period.
