Congratulations to all of our PSYC Terps who are celebrating their graduation today and tomorrow. Ahead of tomorrow's Department ceremony, we wanted to share a special congratulations to our award winners and distinguished participants:
2015 Student Commencement Speaker

It is our tradition that a graduating senior speaks at commencement on behalf of the graduates. Selected from a pool of distinguished applicants, our student speaker represents the virtues and achievements that we are all celebrating.
Mark S. Harper Award for Excellence in Psychology
2015 Recipient: Jennifer Sloane
The Mark S. Harper Award for Excellence in Psychology honors the memory of Mark, who transferred to the University of Maryland in Fall, 1992. He was jointly studying psychology and social work, when during his senior year an earlier illness returned. He continued his studies at the pace that he could while receiving treatment and graduated in Spring, 1995. Sadly, however, he died from the illness soon thereafter. The Harper family created this award for a student who best exemplifies Mark’s perseverance, intellectual curiosity, integrity, and dedication to others.

The Department of Psychology’s Award for Excellence in Student Leadership goes to a student nominated by his or her peers for an outstanding commitment to advancing the opportunities and achievements of fellow psychology majors, students and community members.
The Department of Psychology's Outstanding PSYC Terp Award
The Department of Psychology's Outstanding PSYC Terp Award recognizes undergraduate seniors who represent of the impact that our students have on the program, the field, and their communities. The Undergraduate Committee reviews faculty nominations and selects recipients based on their records of academic accomplishments, scholarly contributions, and community service.
