NIH Health Study seeks Research Project Coordinator


Research Project Coordinator, The CDM Group, Inc. (52244)
The CDM Group is a minority-owned, award-winning consulting firm that has worked to improve the health and well-being of all Americans since 1987. The Project Coordinator will primarily work on The NEXT Generation Health Study (NEXT), a NIH-funded national four-year longitudinal study examining the health and health status of older adolescents as they transition to young adulthood (10th grade to one-year post high school). NEXT focuses directly on diet, exercise, substance use, risky driving behavior, and dating violence. Data are collected via survey, anthropometric measurements, biomarkers, activity and dietary recalls, and accelerometers and sleep watches. Other possible studies include secondary data analyses of national health surveys, survey of the effectiveness of a health campaign, and a Head Start health study.

POSSIBLE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• Direct the work of a team of national health researchers, assuring that data collection in schools and student homes is completed efficiently and within project deadlines
• Recruit students into a new component of the study; oversee the collection of informed consent and assent from each selected student and parent
• Coordinate the scheduling of school and home visits with schools and students
• Maintain positive relationships with schools, students, health researchers, and support staff
• Help supervise the work of project assistants and oversee quality control
• Work with an MS Access-based field management database

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in health, psychology, public health, education, or related field
• Proficiency with MS Access, Excel, Word, and Power Point
• Prior research experience with interviewing, coding, and evaluation methods a plus
• Proficiency with SAS a plus
• Quantitative and qualitative analytic skills a plus

The candidate must also have the capacity to lead and manage team members, when needed. This candidate must be highly organized, pay attention to detail, have the ability to multitask, work independently with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills (both oral and written) are a must. The ideal candidate should be outgoing and personable, with the ability to interact with school administrators, students, families, and health researchers in a professional and friendly manner.
