Monica is a rising senior from Teaneck, NJ, double majoring in Psychology and Family Science here at the University of Maryland. In the past, she has been a member of several research teams at the University of Maryland, including the Couples Abuse Prevention Program, Black Parenting Project 2012, and the Social, Decisional, Organizational Sciences Lab. She has also completed research on cyber bullying and relational aggression at with Dr. Yolanda Hawkins-Rodgers, a faculty member at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. She is also a Deans List Student and a member of multiple honor societies, including the Psi Chi Psychology Honors Society. As the Senior Peer Mentor in the Office of Undergraduate Studies, Department of Psychology, Monica mentors students by reviewing requirements and policies with incoming Psychology majors, as well as works on projects designed to improve the department. Upon graduation, Monica plans on pursing a PhD in Counseling Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy. She hopes to do research on the risk factors of divorce and domestic violence, as well as adolescent-parent relationships. Her ultimate goal is to own her own private practice, where she will provide counseling to Couples and Families seeking help as they make difficult life transitions.

Meet our new Undergraduate Studies Senior Peer Mentor Monica Kearney!
The Undergraduate Studies Office is pleased to introduce our new Senior Peer Mentor for the 2012-2013 academic year Monica Kearney! In her role as Senior Peer Mentor, Monica will assist in training the peer mentors, facilitate psychology major workshops, and perform a variety of responsibilities that will continue to advance the services of the Undergraduate Studies Office.
