As a BTC student you will get the opportunity to
· Explore civic issues that matter to YOU!
· Engage in community service and civic learning activities;
· Gain real-world experience through high-quality internships;
· Receive a “Civic Engagement” notation on your transcript.
As part of BTC you gain an interdisciplinary foundation and apply your skills in civic engagement and social change in a global context across 3 courses (7 credits). Past Psychology students have interned in locations such as, Baltimore Behavioral Health, Suicide Prevention Action Network, Forbush Preschool for Autistic Children, and many more! You will also lead change in local communities! Past student initiatives included raising awareness about sexual violence at UMD and seeking solutions to food issues in College Park, among many other.
